The seliolarships being made available by the A&T College Alumni Association, the SmithDouglas Company, the Kroger and Sears Roebuck Foundations are to be awarded on the basis *? of high scores aimed in by the youths on a college entrance examination administered daring the last two weeks. The examinations sponsored by the alumni group, were given in 27 centers scattered conveniently about the State and at Norfolk, Va. Dr. F. A. Williams, dean of the A&T Graduate School and chairman of the Alumni Testing Program, stated that the largest number of students in the four year i history of the program are in competition. A total of 1275 students, ranking in the upper fourth of their class took the tests. He said that th?> winners would be announced just as soon as the scores have been tabulated. Southwest I Missouri now plays Evansville for the tourney championship tonight at 10 p m. (EST;, preceded by the consolation clash between Evansville and Los Angeles State at 8 p. m. (EST). Evansville used its proficiency at the free throw line to wreck A&T tonight. It made 46 of 56 free throws as compared with A&T's 22 for 30 performance at the charity line. Four A&T players fouled out and two Evansville cagers were ousted by the infraction method. Evansville captured a 55-46 halftimc lead, but A&T narrowed it to 71-70 with 12:20 to Dlav. The homestanders poured on the pressure and lifted the margin to eight points 'vith 7:41 to go. They charged in from there. Irv Gray of A&T fouled out with 10 minutes to go. Vance Mil ler departed with nine minutes < left, and both Joe Cotton and ' Charlie Harrison departed with six minutes on the clock. Evansville's Hugh Ahlering ' dropped in 17 free throws in 18 ' attempts for a tourney record. !
